Descrizione
Faustino Summo's Discorsi poetici is a collection of lectures previously given on specific passages or matters from Aristotle's Poetics. The work is dedicated as a whole to Federico Corner (Cornaro), who is mentioned as patron and founder of an unnamed academy in Padua (i.e. Accademia dei Ricovrati) within which the relevant discussions took place. Each lecture is dedicated to a specific person. The wide range of topics approached includes questions related to tragic and comic genres, as well as mixtures of genres (cf. the Pastor Fido debate, which is explicitly mentioned and approached in the last two lectures).
