Trattato de l'origine delli venti
Data
1571
Descrizione
The work is a compendium of meteorology very focused on the knowledge of winds and their nature. Aristotle's Meteorology undoubtedly plays a main role among Breventano's sources, which are nonetheless extremely heterogeneous (Hippocrates, Seneca, Plinius the Elder stand out among the classical texts the author refers to and quote from, but it is worth remarking that Breventano turns to medieval contributions as well - e.g. Avicenna and Guillaume de Conches). The treatise is conceived as a complete catalogue of winds which follows a more general introduction to the topic.
